I was watching a YouTube video and got so frustrated when this girl who was working out commented that she burned off all of the calories she ate from last nights birthday celebration.
What the fuck does that even mean?
You ate cake, chips and had some wine. So instead of enjoying it, you likely were planning your visit to the gym the next day.
I’m not saying she’s any different than anyone else, because most people tend to feel guilt. It’s awful, horrible and just wrong.
We eat, but than we need to find a way to “get rid of it”. And working out to burn off calories is a form of an eating disorder. It’s purging in a different way. It can be very intense. I have heard about people working out for hours upon hours to work off their calories. And that is no different than sticking your finger down your throat or taking a box of laxatives. You are trying to do the same thing.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just say, “That cake last night was delicious”. “I’m going to the gym today to feel strong.” But we don’t. Unfortunately most of us don’t.
