#BellLetsTalk – but are we talking?

Are we talking?  Or are we just posting it on our social media accounts?

Don’t get me wrong.  I think it’s nice when people acknowledge a day like today, but don’t do it just to do it.  If you are going to post and acknowledge it – do something about it.

We all know someone that struggles or has struggled with mental illness.  Depression, anxiety, post partum, eating disorders, suicidal thoughts and the many others that exist.  So reach out – ask how they are doing.  Ask anyone how they are doing.  Someone who may not technically have a mental illness but might be going through a challenging time in their life.  Ask if they need someone to talk to.  A shoulder to cry on.  An ear to listen.  Act on your actions.  Don’t just post.  Do something about it, otherwise the day is meaningless.

And don’t stop asking.  Because mental illnesses don’t last one day.
